Maintainance is an integral part of homeownership as a house has several working elements and systems that need attention to ensure they run smoothly and identify problems. As a renovation expert with over a decade of experience, we have come across several household issues, and many of them can be solved through simple repairs and quick fixes.

However, for some reason, it’s believed that new is better, especially with appliances and electricals (like heaters, air conditioners, and small automated features). In our experience, while new products or replacements are amazing, they aren’t essential. If you take the time to find a reliable expert, in most cases, they should be able to repair what you already have and get it working in no time. That way, you don’t need to spend money on a new appliance, removals, disposals, and installations.

To give you an idea of why we believe repairing is better than replacing, our experts at Best Handy Hubby Renovation and Painting Services have explained a recent issue faced by a client and how we helped them overcome it with a simple repair.

The problem: A dysfunctional heater that was costly to replace and involved wall retrofit expenses.

Not too long ago, a new client came to us seeking advice on the best course of action regarding their dysfunctional heater. The electric wall heater had a couple of functional problems before it stopped working altogether, and the client was worried that it was ruined for good.

To get to the bottom of the situation, the client had already contacted a few contractors,

but they wanted to replace the heater and retrofit the enclosure. For this, the typical quoted price was about $1200. To see if there was still a shot at repairing their heater and avoiding unnecessary expenses, they decided to give it another try and get a final opinion from us.

The solution: Determine the problem and repair the heater.

When the client explained their problem to us, we decided to take the heater apart and determine exactly what was broken. We were able to identify a broken rotary potentiometer and point out a socket fault that powered their chandelier light. At the time, neither of the broken items were available at your most common renovation stores. But fortunately, Best Handy Hubby knew exactly where to get a replacement potentiometer. We also knew how to describe the chandelier socket base to suppliers and locate an ideal one for the client. Once we acquired the parts we needed, we quickly repaired both items at only a fraction of the expected cost. This made the client very happy and delighted with our services!

As you can see, repairing trumps replacing electronics, appliances, and even walls, floors, and ceilings. To have your requirements properly repaired or fixed, it’s essential to work with a professional who takes the time to understand your problems and provide dependable solutions that save you money.
